Wilson Aurbach Files As Republican Candidate for Texas Congressional District 30

Dallas native cites need for a balanced race in evolving district

Dallas, Texas, January 26, 2006 - Dallas attorney Wilson Aurbach filed in December with the Dallas Republican Party to earn the bid to represent the citizens of Texas Congressional District 30. A district long represented by Democrat Eddie Bernice Johnson, Aurbach feels the time is right for a more conservative candidate in the community which includes Uptown and Downtown Dallas as well Balch Springs, South Lakewood, East Dallas, South Dallas, Duncanville and DeSoto.

The inspiration to run for public office began on Election Day 2004 when Aurbach felt dissatisfied with the absence of a republican candidate on the ballot. Trends show that the incumbent has had a major-party opponent only once in the past three political races. "Given the changing nature of the district, this lack of political choice is unacceptable," states Aurbach. "My motivation for pursuing the privilege to represent the citizens of District 30 is based on a real concern for the community. Unchallenged politicians tend to be less accountable to their constituents and I believe District 30 is no exception. It is time for a conservative voice from District 30."

Texas Congressional District 30 has formerly been known as a stronghold of liberal voters. However, since the 2000 Census and the 2003 Texas congressional redistricting plan, new residents have relocated to these thriving communities. Aurbach's candidacy has garnered support from local activists who recognize the changing dynamics of the district and feel that the district is now ripe for a competitive and balanced congressional race in 2006.

Aurbach's candidacy is built upon a lifetime of experience in District 30, which makes his candidacy unique among his political opponents. He attended D.I.S.D.'s Talented and Gifted Magnet Schools, K.B. Polk Elementary and A.W. Spence Junior High School, and graduated from Bishop Lynch High School, all of which are in District 30 as it is currently drawn. He is also a lifetime member of the historic First Baptist Church of Dallas.

Aurbach graduated from Baylor University with a bachelor of arts degree from the highly regarded University Scholars Program. He then entered one of the top law programs in the country at the University of Texas School of Law. Presently, he resides and works in downtown Dallas at a prominent Dallas-based law firm where he practices commercial litigation.
